The forerunner of today's Gergely Czuczor Benedictine Grammar School was the Grammar School for Jesuits founded by Miklós Dallos Bishop of Győr in 1626. Until the dissolution of the Order in 1773, the Grammar School continued their teaching according to the Ratio Studiorum. In the transitional period (1774-1802) teaching continued in the old spirit. In 1802 the Benedictine order restored by King Francis I took over the Győr Grammar School. It was nationalized in 1948, but by the 1950 agreement the order was regained. The name of Gergely Czuczor in the grammar school of 1921/22. from the school year. Between 1948 and 1990, it was one of the eight Catholic grammar schools that could operate, so from 1627 it operated continuously. In 2007 the monastery received the rank of dependent prosecutor. Beginning with the 2008/2009 school year, breaking the 381-year-old tradition allows girls to enroll in the high school.
