Very good close to 100 year old artifacts.
The “Ecseri” Flea Market is quite well-known among locals and tourists. It is located a little bit outside of the city center and can be reached in approximately 40 minutes with public transportation from the Central Market Hall. But the visit is worth the ride! Like most large flea markets and antique fairs, you never know what you will find if you look. Sunday is less crowded than Saturday and many vendors are happy to talk with customers about where something came from, or even what it says.
This is an authentic flea market, by which I mean they have an incredible assortment of genuinely vintage / antique goods, as distinct from, say, manufactured communist memorabilia.
In particular, I recommend a clothing store (permanent fixture) at the back of the market which is literally full to the ceilings of 60s/70s clothes, bags and shoes.
There is also a lady at the very front selling doilies and traditional Hungarian embroidery, which are lovely.
Nice place, I believe it would be better once the tourist returns.
A bit pricey to my taste.
I went there with my family and partner. It is a great place for antique treasures and there are many very interesting items. We enjoyed our time there, but I was a little bit disappointed with the service. If you go there, make sure you go there knowing the value of the items you are interested to look at, as people there try to sell you items way too expensive when they see you are a foreigner. Also, some sellers when you are just looking at items are just way too forceful. But on the other hand, there were real treasures there and some very friendly and knowledgeable people.
We have seen many World War II antique items, paintings, antique furniture, pictures. There is this amazing camera shop. It had several antique old-fashioned cameras in this hidden little room. If you go there this little place is a place that you MUST visit. I have included an picture of that place. There are some little buffets where you can go and get some refreshments. I think parking is a little bit tricky but it is not impossible to find. SO if you get a chance do go there and have a look around, but be careful with the pricing of the items!
