The Greek Catholic community under the piety of the Kállay family was noted in 1747 to have a decaying, reed-covered wooden church. It received its antimony from Bishop György Bizánczy, so it was founded before 1733. The number of believers increased steadily: in the mid-18th century to one hundred and fifty, in the early 19th century to six hundred, and in 1918 to one thousand and six hundred. The church, which is still standing today, began to be built in 1835, and was completed in 1854, using the Roman Catholic Church. Its iconostasis was built in 1897, and its paintings were painted by Ferenc Gosztincsár. In 1913 the church was renovated with the support of the lord. The façade tower was erected in 1933 with the help of Lord Aurel Dessewffy. The wall paintings were painted by János Szilágyi and András Szilágyi in 1975. The church was renovated several times from the outside, and a sacristy was built in 2003.
