In 1912 the evangelical church of Szentgotthárd was built under the leadership of Géza Czipott. Thus, it became possible for Szentgotthárd to be the center of the Evangelical life of the Lutheran Church at that time. At the beginning of the 1900s Károly Tomka, a Lutheran pastor, urged the Church of St Gotthard to build a church. The large-scale donation of Gyula Desits at the then-Hosszú-street (today József Attila utca) made it possible to build the church and the church. The architect of the church was István Bagula architect, architect József Lang. They are both Szentgotthárd. The church was built with a wide collaboration and donations. The altarpiece is also the work of local Károly Lang. On October 20, 1912, the evangelical church was opened in Szentgotthárd in the presence of Kálmán Széll. In World War I, two of the 3 bells of the congregation were offered to the country by bishop's call. A memorial plaque was opened in 1928 to commemorate the fallen 36 church members. The members of the congregation organized a collection to replace the bell lost in the war. In 1930, a medium-sized new bell was inaugurated. In 1937 volunteer donations were also used to replace the big bell, which was labeled "The Bell of Peace." In 1925 the church house was completed. The school was built in 1928, thanks to church donations and the contribution of the silk factory ownership, state and church assistance. For the first academic year, 44 regular and 6 further students enrolled. The first official teacher was Szabó (Szalkay) Charles. After 1945, it operated as an out-of-school primary school and auxiliary school, and then in 1990 the school returned to the church. In the autumn of 1967, the church was renovated, which was completed in 1968. In 1992, the church and the school were renovated and renovated. In 2001, the organ was renovated. In 2004, a new building was built on the site of the old chapel. The costs were secured by real estate sales, support from the municipality and the National Evangelical Church. On October 20, 2012, the congregation celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Evangelical Church. For this occasion, the church's clock watch and exterior renovation have been completed - largely from donations from members
