The country's first road tunnel. It was built in 182r, during the prime period of Alexander Rudnay, at the same time as the Basilica. Its length is 92 m. The royal city and Szentgyörgymező district can be reached by a shorter route and the so called. It was used to access the main entrance of the Seminar. Its designer and builder is János Pach, the same as the designer-builder of the Basilica.

Literally "Dark Passage" (Sötétkapu), it is the tunnel that passes under the Esztergom / Strigonius citadel. Connects Szent István tér with the underlying Iskola utca. No longer as dark as it used to be, as it is very well lit at night :)
