It was the church of the Augustinian Order, then the Mosque of the Tanners, as evidenced by the surviving donkey-backed window. Now, of course, it's a Catholic church again, but it's not in very good condition right outside.

Nice little church. Pleasant historic downtown.

It was built in 1702 from the remains of a mosque from Turkish times. It burned down in 1750. It was transformed in 1912 into an eclectic style. His Angster organ dates from 1889. Its tower is 28 meters high. It has three bells: The great bell was made in 1828 and the middle and soul bell in 1929.

péter Salamon (08/08/2020)
During the Turkish occupation, it was the Mosque of the Tanners. To this day, the donkey-backed windows are visible, beautifully restored. The Augustine, where the church is located, is one of the most romantic squares in Pécs. Close to Tettye, downtown, cheap parking in the area! Tourist magnet! Must see!
