A beautiful Lutheran church from the late 1700s. Its builder is Sámuel Tessedik, the renowned pastor and teacher, who also took part in the founding of the Georgikon in Keszthely and in the preparation of his professional program. Opposite the church is Tessedik's former school of diligence (now a museum), in which the serfs developed the professional practical and basic skills of the children. Tessedik's name is associated with the honey of acacia, digging (digging up digó land on poor quality soil, thus making it of better quality -> land reclamation), and the establishment of fire protection.

András Hrdina and his followers settled in Szarvas in 1722 and built their first church in 1723. It was made of very weak material, probably of loam, so in six years it was replaced in 1729. The second priest of Szarvas, Matthias Markovitz, erected an altar to this church, and the church was bell-towered. The third temple was built in 1759, but again it was built of material and volume similar to the previous ones. The zealous religious people built their church within a year. The present Old Church was built in 1788 under the influence of Samuel Tessedik and Daniel Boczkó. Its structure is almost exclusively Tessedik's. In 1786 they were granted permission to build a solid material to replace the ruinous temple built of weak material.
