Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, Szarvaskő

The classicist Roman Catholic church was built in the 1840s. It was dedicated to the baptism of St. John the Baptist. The steeple of the church on the hill leads to a staircase with eight rest stops. The main altarpiece is semi-circular, richly decorated. Its pillars are characterized by simplicity.

The stone carving works were performed by masters Mihály Benkovics and Antal Ledek from Eger. the main altarpiece was painted by Ferenc Balkay and depicts St. John the Baptist. It was restored in the middle of the 19th century by the organist István Cseh, who lived in Szarvaskő but later descended.
