Sáp-halom

The village of Sáp was identified around the Sáp mound rising on the border of Szentes and Szegvár. According to tradition, it was named after this knight named Sáp, who died here in the fight against the Turks. In 1730, the astronomer Samuel Mikoviny made his angular measurements here, which is why the Sáp mound is also a map-historical monument. A plaque on top of the pile also preserves the memory of this.
