Tarnaszentmáriai Sarlós Boldogasszony honfoglaláskori templom

One of the oldest churches in Hungary, from the Árpádian period, fully preserving its original form and in excellent condition. It was presumably built as a princely burial ground. It dates back to the end of the 10th century, when the years were only 3 digits long and our ancestors occupied them. The church has a sub-church presumably with a princely mine tomb. The inner wall of the church is decorated with beautiful carved stone columns. This church is a real treasure, definitely worth a visit. It is only a few kilometers from Siroki Castle and can be reached on foot from Kisnánai Castle. One of the mandatory destinations for roaming the Mátra. Access is easy. The church was built in the 10th and 11th centuries and can still be seen in its original state. Its tower part was added in the 19th century.
