Dedest and Bántapolcsány were merged in 1950, and since then Dédestapolcsány has been named and there is a church in both parts of the village. The medieval village was known for its castle, which stood in 1254, and is even mentioned in 1304 for its church of St. Martin, which also had a priest. The XV. In the 14th century it was a royal estate and received the rank of a market town.
In 1566 the Turkish basa of Hassan destroyed the castle, which was no longer built. During the tenure of the Perényi and Orlai families the inhabitants became the inhabitants of the Reformed Church. The census of 1595 reports on a temple that did not last long because a wooden temple was built in 1608. Its present church was built in 1800-01 in late Baroque style with a 28 m high tower in front of the western facade, designed by Bálint Pissl, mason master of Rimabombat. The eastern end of the building has a semicircular closure. The ceiling was originally ornate and wooden, but when the interior was renovated in 1930, the ceiling was demolished and replaced by a gray wooden ceiling painted in gray oil paint. Some of the old cassettes were restored by the Herman Otto Museum in Miskolc, two of them placed on the wall above the south entrance as a reminder. On the northern wall we can see the World War I memorial plaque. The church was recently renovated in its original form, reinstating the restored and renewed coffered ceiling.
The 97 kg (56 cm) bell was made by the Hp of Bp, with the inscription “The 1914-18. The bell that he took for the purposes of World War II was replaced by the ref. church for the glory of God, 1923. ”The 75 kg (55 cm) was cast in Eger, with the inscription:“ Fusa sub Rozalia Jusztel. The Reformed Dédesi N. Ecclesia made it at proprietary cost in MDCCXCVI. ”
