The location is fantastic, right in the city centre, very close to the Jewish Quarter. Walking distance pretty much everywhere. The hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Budapest. The rooms and common spaces are extremely dated, bathroom is extremely simple and old as well. Definitely not a 4*. Max 2* compared with standard around Europe. We went for a birthday weekend as a party of 10. Some of the guests have complained there was no AC in their rooms. We were offered an upgrade to a superior room, however l'm not so sure what was superior about it. It was smaller than a standard and completely dark since the window faced a wall of another building, which was literally at a hand's reach. That was pretty disappointing so we took the standard room as originally booked. There on the balcony we found an old bottle of water full of cigarette butts... The area is very busy and noisy so expect loud music and street noise until late at night as well as very loud garbage trucks early in the morning.

Location is perfect, rooms are quite cozy and with comfortable beds, the only problem was constant traffic on a street under the room windows, all togheter a nice place to stay

We enjoyed A lovely stay at the Hotel; the location is SUPER convenient and is near a majority of the bus stations, metro stations, and airport bus. Next to the hotel you’ll find a wide range of food chains as well as a super market. The room was clean and relatively big enough.

Like stepping back into the past The Astoria has all the charm you could ask for. Yes it is a little tired around the edges but look deeper and you start to feel the history. Located right in the middle of the town it was perfectly located for a weekend visit with a bus stop and metro station right on the doorstep. The only downside was that it did get a bit noisy at night. The staff were brilliant. Immaculately turned out and on hand for all your needs without crowding. We didn't eat, that was saved for fantastic street and Christmas Market food but we did use the bar which was well stocked and beautifully run. I would go again without question.
