Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Gyöngyöspata

The wellness area is excellent with a wide selection of saunas. The outside thermal pool is simply outstanding, specially when it's a little chilly outside. Food is acceptable, the rooms are clean though I found the mattress too soft. Good price/performance.

Beautiful & serene

You need to make an appointment over the phone with your local tour guide who is very willing. In about half an hour, he will enjoy the history of the settlement and the church. The description is free of charge, and a money box is accepted for the benefit of the church. The Jesse Altar is extremely beautiful.

It was built in the 14th century in the Gothic style and rebuilt in the 17th century. Its special feature is the Jesse tree depicting the family tree of Jesus in its sanctuary. The eight-meter-high altar is probably the work of masters from southern Poland from the middle of the 17th century. Can only be visited by prior arrangement.

It was closed, we could only see the church from the outside :(
