Come and hear the word of God every Sunday at 10am.
Very nice church. With the memories that come with it.
"The church was built in 1702 for the then 21 Reformed families. It gained its current size and shape with the extension in 1787. Its furnishings are derived from this, and even its pulpit is even earlier. so-called slide, with 2 manuals, with 12 registers, registered as a monument, as well as the church itself.
On September 28, 1848, within these walls, the General Staff of the Kossuth Army held the Council of War preparing for the Battle of Pákozd-Sukoró. The commander of the army, János Móga, was the first to speak before the participants who filled the church. He said here, standing at his master's table, made in 1805, that he had been visited in the Sukoro camp by delegates from the parliament, who demanded an immediate attack from the enemy army. The delegates were then given the floor, reiterating the parliamentary resolution.
In his response, Moga outlined the balance of power: the army was 15,000, mostly poorly trained and armed, while Jellasics ’ban army consisted of nearly 40,000. So he does not recommend the battle, it would be irresponsible to attack, only defeat could end.
This was the subject of a heated debate in which Moga was called a coward and a traitor by the already dissatisfied officers because of the constant retreat. Mostly the Perczel brothers were swordsmen. In response, the commander returned his office, his sword, and placed it on his master's table.
In the crisis, Prime Minister Lajos Batthyány asked for the floor. His original intention with which he came to the camp was to negotiate the grief through Ferenc Lamberg. Shortly before the War Council, however, he learned that Jellasics was by no means willing to do so, and would even attack in a short time.
Batthyány asked what the army would do in this case. After a short deliberation, the end result was a fundamental decision: the army would not attack the enemy, but if the enemy attacked, it would resist.
During the discussion, John Xantus spied from the church tower on the fires of Jellasics' camp to find out the direction of the expected attack.
The seats of the most famous members of the Council of War were marked with signs. These can be seen in a row on the front benches.
At the end of the deliberations, Moga tied his sword back and under his command the army beat the threefold superiority the next day. "
Unfortunately, the church was closed. The whole area was very nice. It can be a great starting point or arrival point for exploring the Venetian Mountains. Parking on small streets.
The church was closed, but the surroundings of the village are very beautiful.
Nice, pleasant town center.
