A nice one. Ground floor shows and indicates original street levels of the 18th century. Also, the historical flood of river Danube’s water level of 1838 is marked on a marble table. Very inspiring.

In its present form, it has been standing in Kerepesi since 1765, now along Rákóczi Road, on the side of Józsefváros. The devastating plague epidemics of 1710 and beyond necessitated the establishment of an outpatient barrack hospital outside the towns of Pest, which survived even after the plague passed and has been expanding year by year. Opened in 1798, the Pest Civil Public Hospital is still in operation - one of the oldest, long-standing health institutions in Europe, and since 2001 it has been part of the Hungarian Heritage. During the next major epidemic (1739-40), the city council vowed to build a chapel in honor of St. Roch and Rosalie. It was built in 1741 according to the plans of Mihály Pollack. The facade and tower were finally completed by 1765. Its exterior, historic monumental repairs were completed in 2002. It has been in a urn cemetery since 2006.

The Chapel of Saint Roch is essentially the chapel of Saint Francis, patron saint of the miraculous Franciscan monk, patron saint of the plague. In 1710, a plague erupted many people. Some moved in time to the town of Pest, where the hospital is still operating since that time. During the next major epidemic of 1739, the City Council vowed to erect a chapel in honor of St. Roch and Rosalia.
