Török kori kút - Cserépváralja

The octagonal well house evokes the memory of Turkish times. In the well house with a well dug by hand in the tuff typical of the rock of the area. The diameter of the well exceeds one meter and the depth to the water level is nearly 60 meters. Due to its nature, not much was known about its origin in the Turkish era. Various legends circulated that there was a tunnel above the water level, but this was not proven. It stands on a hilltop below the castle hill, keeping its secret, reminiscent of times gone by. Unfortunately, the well house is located in an area enclosed by a fence, so it can only be seen from a distance. Incidentally, the area may have been the park of a castle built by the former L’Huillier family.
