The idea of ​​the monument was first discovered at the time of the liquidation of the 47th Tactical Air Squadron, but in the absence of resources, a worthy memorial site could not be created. In 2016, the Municipality of Papa City made a significant contribution in a decision, so the implementation could begin. The MH Pápa Base Base Airport turned to the Minister of Defense, who authorized and provided the use of the 4605 MiG-21 fighter aircraft and set up a task for some organizations of the Hungarian Defense Forces to prepare, paint and transport the aircraft. The municipality undertook the costs of the technical design and approval of the support structure and the related tasks. The aircraft was prepared, the necessary technical modifications and painting were carried out by the experts of the MH Aircraft Repair Plant in Kecskemét; the Military Transport Center of MH transferred to Papa. On December 9, 2018, the soldiers and construction company deployed the fighter in its final place. The MiG-21 was the dominant fighter in Hungary between 1962 and 2000, representing the military flight. MiG-21 MF, number 4605, flew from 1971 to 1977 in Pápa and then to Kecskemét in 1990. He completed his last flight on April 4, 1990 with a landing in Szolnok, then served as a training aid for students at Szolnok, the Technical College of Aircraft. During his decades of service, he flew a total of 1764 hours and 51 minutes with 2999 landings.
