Nagy Balázs (09/01/2020)
It is located in the Magyaregregy Castle Valley, in its upper section, on the left side of the stream, next to the P sign. Despite the unoccupied state of the source, it is well noticeable as water emerges from the ground with a strong intensity. The inscription MÁRIA-KÚT on the rock was engraved by Sándor Csokonay. From the submerged spring exiting the crack section, the bystander can boldly drink. It is clearly a karst source, as not only the aquifer but also the magnitude of the yields suggest this. Its surface catchment area contains titanium and Berazzi limestone with open excavations next to rocks indicating Cretan volcanism. Another special feature of the source is that it occasionally delivers smaller sized abraded stones through its narrow cracks. The source got its name from the image of Mary near it, it was once a place of pilgrimage. The picture holder was originally placed on the huge beech tree that still falls there at the source of the source. One of the most extensive springs in the Eastern Mecsek. Its water flow is around 150-250 liters / minute. It used to be called the School Source.
