Sárospataki Vártemplom

St. Elizabeth's Church: In the Middle Ages, Sárospatak was a popular property of Hungarian queens. Also the daughter of King Andrew and Queen Gertrudis, St. Elizabeth of the House of Arpad. (names are familiar from Bánk bán) The church was also built in the time of the kings of Árpádháza, its history has been connected to the history of the castle for centuries. It functioned as a castle church, the northern wall of the church became a section of the defensive wall with built-in portholes and firing points.

Beautiful gothic church.

Very nice church. Relic of St. Elizabeth and monuments built during history. The organ is beautiful.
