The Gate of Heroes, also known as the Castle Gate, dates back to the history of the medieval castle, although its age is less than 100 years old. Today it welcomes tourists to Veszprém Castle with an interesting interactive museum. Veszprém Castle originally consisted of two parts, an outer and an inner castle. Today's Castle Gate was built on the site of a gate with a drawbridge leading to the latter. Over time, it has performed various functions. It still commemorates the Hungarian victims of World War I.

The interior of the building, completed in 1939, originally housed the sarcophagus of the Unknown Soldier, and later housed occasional exhibitions. After its complete renovation, the representative castle history exhibition of the Dezső Laczkó Museum can be seen here today.
