Hunguest Répce is affiliated with and adjacent to Hunguest Répce Gold and you have access to both hotels internal wellness centres and gyms. Répce has the better by far wellness than Répce Gold. Répce Gold is more expensive and of a slightly higher standard. BOTH hotels share the heated enclosed walkways to the baths which means you can change in your room and walk to the spas comfortably in winter! Spent several days here in early January/Winter. A Soviet era hotel that is gradually getting renovated. Rooms are small and comfortable with pleasant decor although very basic. Be careful when booking as only SOME rooms are renovated. This is something you should query, it seems to be common practice in many older hotels in Hungary! The unrenovated rooms, although clean are extremely shabby and you are not told when booking what you are getting. We complained and after some hassles were given 2 of the newer rooms for our party of 5. Staff are helpful but frequently overrun, especially when large bus groups arrive or leave. Be warned that in winter the rooms are INCREDIBLY warm! Around 25-30°C! We had to turn the heating completely off to be comfortable and even then slept with the windows slightly open, when it was -5°C outside. In summer, it's WORSE. There is no air-conditioning and if you are on the sunny side of the building in hot weather it's like being in an oven. Food at the hotel is quite good for breakfast, and only OK for dinners. Food is plentiful but like many regional hotels here, INCREDIBLY over salted. Some food is so over salted it's inedible to our Australian palates. Most guests here are from adjacent countries and when we were there there were only a few other Hungarians. Most staff, but not all speak several languages. Lifts are TINY and during peak checkout/check-in times it can take 1/2 an hour or more to get down from your room to lengthy queues in the lobby. Beware if you are catching buses etc! The only reason to stay here is it's location directly adjacent to the Bükfürdő/Thermál Baths which it's connected to by fully enclosed walkways. The baths are fantastic, busy in winter and jam packed in summer when the extensive outside strand and park are fully open.
