Római katolikus templom, Zabar

A fine and huge church on the outskirts of Zabar, some cities do not have such a large church.

When we went there, the orderly environment was striking, in one of the coldest parts of the country.

It stands on the meadow between the two settlements, at the bend of the Tarna, at the southern end of a small hill. Farther wide, it is still accompanied by reeds. There may have been open waters at the time of construction, and today's flat-mowed meadow was a reedy, swampy swamp at the time, which protected and hid a church built in several stages on an island rising only a few decimeters above the water. With a little imagination, it is easy to imagine the original environment. The Romanian and then Gothic building from the 13th to the 15th century was greatly expanded in the modern period as well - it was asymmetrically widened, but it also preserves some medieval details inside.
