Mesztegnyő, Nepomuki Szent János templom

The church of St. John of Nepomuk in Mesztegnyő is a real attraction in the treasury of Somogy. Before you go for that, you better find out how you can get into the temple if it’s locked, who’s the key, the key man who opens the temple door for you, if it’s likely to be locked. The church was built in 1756 and is one of the most beautiful architectural masterpieces of the Baroque. The noble painter of the age, István Dorfmeister, painted his interior decoration and his altarpiece depicting St. John of Nepomuk. Another interesting feature of the church is the crypt of the church, in one part of which members of the Hunyadi family were buried, in the other part monks. Well, let’s make sure personally who these Hunyadis are who have found a place here for eternal rest. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to get into the church, so all of these masterpieces and sights to see were not given at the time of August 2020 in Covidos.
