We were on the threshold of the millennium in Csenger. The magnificent Greek Catholic church, which was then renovated, has a delightful exterior and interior beauty for believers. This is a must see, May the Good God be with us. Together with the other 3 churches around it, it is located in the center of the city.
In the 18th century, a large number of Greek Catholic inhabitants lived in an important rural town since the Middle Ages, and in 1762 they sought the help of the county to designate churches and parishes. At that time, the neighboring Újfalu belonged to the Óvári parish from the next century until 1920, then again to Csengerújfalu.
In the 18th century, the believers here wanted to build a church, and their request in Hungarian remained in the archives of the Diocese of Munkács. In the 19th century they took a bell and built a belfry. From the middle of the 20th century there was a Greek liturgy in the Roman Catholic church, but after 1970 Elemér Felföldi and Erzsébet Papp built their own chapel, the belfry was also relocated to this gate, which was destroyed, but the bell still exists today. The founders of the chapel relocated part of their own garden to build a new church. The basilica-shaped, open-roof cathedral was built according to the plans of Ferenc Bán. In the meantime, the community was attached to your Paty. In 1998, the church was sold to the Gypsy Self-government, instead of the town center Makovecz. The territorial division of the Nyíregyháza Diocese - Szatmár Main Feasibility Imre was built according to the plans of the central, wooden-covered new building. Bishop of Székes Cross. On the wall of the sanctuary you can see the work of Gábor Janka on four bases. Csenger has been an independent parish since 2007, and the new papla is blessed in 2010.
