Musical Clock

The clock game is finally working again. The special work of the watchmaker Ferenc Csúry was first performed in 1936 during the Outdoor Games. The musical clock on the upper level of the building opposite the main gate of the Duomo can actually be interpreted as a symbol of medieval universities and made as a symbol of it. He speaks twice a day, at which time he displays the graduation closing the school year at 12:15 and 17:45. Then, in front of the lesson, the figures of university leaders and graduating students circle. The colorful figures in the class were carved from linden by József Kulai, and his models were famous Hungarian personalities: Kunó Klebelsberg, András Dugonics, Kelemen Mikes, Sándor Petőfi and István Vedres, among others. The scene is accompanied by the melody of the student starting with “Ballag is already the old student”. In addition, the clock plays the melody of the song “Famous City of Szeged” as a signal every whole hour. It is heard that the clock is already playing several melodies. Unfortunately, I cannot prove this yet.
