After Buda came into Turkish hands, Zsámbék also entered the territory of the new conquerors. The Paulines could do nothing but flee their monastery, which the Turks had converted into a fortress.

The main attraction of Zsámbék. One of the best preserved medieval monastery ruins. started in the 1200s, 51m high. It was destroyed by an earthquake and has not been rebuilt since . The ruins are listed as monuments. They undertook restoration work that was essential to maintaining the condition. All photos are well worth the admission!

The nearly 800-year-old monastery and basilica of Premonsium has died in an earthquake for 250 years. Since then he has been waiting for those interested. Fortunately, the collapse of the stones was stopped and 120 years ago the ruins were preserved so that they would no longer be destroyed. One of the most authentic portraits of our medieval architecture has remained for us.
