Várostörténeti sétány Nyírbátor

I don't know how to start this without hurting the artist, the local authority that signed off the plans and paid for this and the people of Nyìrbàtor but... ...some of the artwork is troubling. I understand that it is the visual representation of a legend but sometimes I reckon we are better off without being able to see how something came to what they are. Like sausages, milk's journey from cow to shop or a Hungarian politician's annual wealth declaration form for Parliament. This latter however would be equally good material for both tragedy and comedy. Anyway, take a nice summer day, start walking from one church to the other on the "sètàny" and you get to the scene with the horseman pulling a man through swords sticking out from the ground - as if just being pulled behind a horse on the ground wouldn't hurt enough, but never underestimate mankind's capacity for cruelty and brutality. Now try to explain that scene to your kids. Don't get me wrong, I love the town and I keep visiting but that piece of artwork does bother me a great deal.

Wonderful place even in such winter, but in summer we plan to visit the place again.

Well, the promenade could be a little cleaner and more tidy. The dragon statue is beautiful.
