The name of the settlement was from 1941 Bűdszentmihály, in 1952 it became Tiszavasvári. Founded in the 1710s, the Bűdi parish was founded. According to the census of 1747, it was a wooden church with shingles in good condition. By the early 19th century, the number of believers doubled. According to the 1816 Church Visit Protocol, in 1762 the new church was built of solid material. He was in good condition at the visit, but the roof and the tower had to be repaired. In 1842, plans were made to rebuild the church. In 1861, a major reconstruction and renovation began, the church was enlarged eastwards, the tower was rebuilt. We have information about the sacrament from 1864. The iconostasis made by János Boldis wood carver was completed in 1869, and the basic pictures were painted on a metal plate by Ignác Roskovics. In 1962, preparing for the 200-year jubilee of the church, they began the restoration of the iconostasis, which lasted a long time. In 1986, the interior was painted by Miklós Pásztor, an artist from Miskolc. Sekrestye was also built on the north side of the sanctuary. In 2011, the church was renovated with a grant. In 2015, the diaconal doors of the iconostasis were designed by a local wood carving master, János Matiz, taking into account the style of the stand.

The building itself is relatively simple, solid exterior, interior decoration. The Church, however, rich in their community, bringing together, caring about others, real community.
