Nice view of the Danube, nice tidy yard!

Funny. The museum was not open on Saturday afternoon, but the tower is impressive, the area and the courtyard are really nicely tidied up. We get through a particularly nice wooden gate, the view is very nice. The restaurant in the courtyard is a delightful one. The Castle Yard has a pleasant, welcoming, relaxing benches, garden, stage. Hopefully good lectures will be held here as well. Spring and summer programs can be especially pleasant here.

A beautiful historical building dating back to the time of the Turkish conquerors after much ruin and renovation today has this look.

Written documents have not been kept on the construction of a rectangular castle building known as the Old Tower, the Csonka Tower or the Tower Tower. The roof structure of the partly stone and partly brick tower is pyramidal. However, the strong palace and the beautiful tower, even after the construction, had not been safe for a quarter of a century. In the autumn of 1686, the troops of the Turkish Grand Commander arriving late to release Buda retreated all of the abandoned settlements, burning out all empty castles. He changed hands several times during the Rákóczi War of Independence, once to the Emperors and to Kurucs. With the advent of peace years, their outer defenses were demolished, but the heavy old tower was used as a mansion prison and then as a granary. In 1858, a huge fire was destroyed in Dunaföldvár, and the top and inner wooden structure of the tower were completely burnt down. Then it was rebuilt "truncated".
