In 1865, József Széll bought a property here, on which stood a one-storey manor house. This was converted by his son Kálmán Széll into a representative 18-room castle. Thus, the owner of the castle was Kálmán Széll, the Prime Minister of Hungary. After the war, the workers of the machine station were accommodated in the castle, and then it was used as a cultural home. From 1957 to 2001, he served as a primary school. In the park surrounding the castle, various rare plants and dentrologically rare trees (mammoth pines, yew trees), shrubs and pine trees still delight the viewer. In 2003, the castle was bought by an investment company and the building was completely renovated. There is currently a clinic-hotel in the Széll Kálmán castle in Rátót.
