Karad was a populated place in Roman times. During the excavation on the Akasztófa Hill, metal coins and brick remains of the period of Emperor Aurélius were discovered. The vernacular calls this place White Mountain. It's just a guess as to whether there is a connection between this designation and the world-famous karad embroidery that is also made with white yarn. The Roman Catholic Church is located at No. 1 St. Ladislaus Square. The foundation stone of the Baroque church was laid in 1742, when the sacristy and the sanctuary were built. The patron saint of the consecrated church became Saint Ladislaus the King of Hungary. In 1749 the church received a tower made of solid material. In 1861, the church was enlarged by two side wings and two galleries on top. In 1908, the side ships were in need of expansion, and this was the time when the current state was established. On November 27, 1927, the church received 4 new bells made by László Szlezák bell foundry. The frescoes in the church were repainted in 1934 by the painter Ferenc Miskolczy. The ceiling of the temple was decorated with four allegorical frescoes, the main arch with a frescoed Jesus fresco, the arches above the galleries were decorated with four evangelistic frescoes, and the sanctuary ceiling was decorated with allegorical frescoes. In 1977 a new liturgical space was created. In 1983 the organ was rebuilt.
