PT Sriwijaya Air was born as a pure private company founded by Chandra Lie, Hendry Lie, Johannes Bunjamin, and Andy Halim. The cabin crew have been specially trained to handle passengers who have these weaknesses, including by personal approaches and by physical touch.nnOn June 16, 2015 at the Paris Air Show 2015, Sriwijaya Air announced the exact order of 2 units of 737-900ER with 20 units of 737 MAX 8 as an option to be taken in the future. This order is the first time Sriwijaya Air has ordered a completely new aircraft and directly from the factory. The two 737-900ERs owned by Sriwijaya Air have arrived together on August 23, 2015.
