Schmutzer Primate Center

I visited Schmutzer several times since it was opened. I really like the place. I'm sad that the facility maintenance is not maximal. There used to be towers that we visitor can climb and monitor the area from above, now it's already broken. I think they need to add more sign board so people don't get lost. I'm hoping someday they could make this place more accessible for people in wheelchair including the elderly.

The place is subpar. It's far from my expectations as the international class Primate Centre, that's what they said on website.

If you wanna enjoy Ragunan zoo with more shade, less heat , then you should enter Schmutzer Primate centre. You can see the animals from a high tunnel and there are benches to sit if your kids are tired. You need to pay extra entrance ticket though , but it just worth the price. Only Rp 7,000 each. Another facility, you can also deposit your bags for free here, if you happen to bring lots of bags and items.

Brilliant collections of apes and gorillas. Need more tou guide to help visitors find ways. More drinking water tap make it easier for us to refill bottle. Thanks

In 2008, this place was amazing. Until 2019, i have been longing to revisit this facility. Sadly, it hasn't been well maintained since some features are closed (lifts, the grand stairs heading to main drome). I suggest to check the feeding time out first so that you would see them at their most active stage.
