The only airport in Sangatta.nRunway built for small airplane only.nIn your first check in, probably you'll be amazed with its high security standard for such small airport. But knowing that its owned and run by a large mining company, you'll understand that safety standard has to be high here.

Tanjung Bara airport for Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) employees and contractors

This a very small private airport for the coal company Pt. Kaltim coal and it's contractor company employees. This is the only airport which connects Balikpapan international airport to Sangatta. The aeroplane used for this airport is very small and carry about 20 people. The airport is situated inside a forest and is operated only in the day time. It has an area for landing helicopter as well. Sometimes the government high officials also use this airport. There is also a government plane which operates twice a week.

Small and simple. Better yet, they kept planes from crashing to each other, not bad for an airport in the middle of nowhere.

It is an airport for KPC and its contractors. There are 3 flights on Monday - Friday, 2 flights on Saturday, and 1 flight on Sunday. All flights are Sangatta - Balikpapan only.
