History & culture of Village Satui & others. (02/18/2021)
A very beautiful library. The library was built by Byomkesh Bandopadhyay, a great writer from Ratnaprasaba Satui village in the pre-independence era. Initially this library was in his house. After his death, the library was shifted to Baral Bari in the village. At that time one had to enter the library through the lion door. It was later shifted to Satui market. The library is currently listed as a government aided library. At present this library has a collection of about six thousand books. Many valuable books were destroyed in the 2000 floods At that time the library was on the ground floor. It is currently located on the second floor. The first name of the library was Chittamohini Library. Later it was named after the great writer. He was a contemporary of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay and wrote about forty novels. Most of the novels were published from Dev Sahitya Kutir in Calcutta. Only a handful of his novels are now preserved in the Satui Library and the rest are no longer available. The library also has a number of photographs in the library, including Ramkinkar Beaz, Sukant Bhattacharya, Byomkesh Bandopadhyay. However, they are not photographs, they are drawn by hand The pictures were drawn by the late Jamuna Prasad Baral Mahasaya. It is worth mentioning that the great writer Atin Bandopadhyay and his wife Mamata Bandopadhyay had contact with this library. Atin Bandopadhyay Mahasaya held the post of headmaster of Satui Rajendra Narayan High School during 1958-63.
