Dakhil Darwaza or Salami Darwaza, Gour

Dakhil Darwaza is an astounding tourist spot. A colossal structure of bygone days has the charm and aura to mesmerize any visitor at this ancient city, named Gauda.nnSturdy and magnificent, one can easily detect the minute floral decorations over this archeological site. However, on my opinion, more maintenance is required. The iron made front gate is already in a deplorable condition. Dearth of Information and guidance for the new visitors are prominent. An Information Centre can be set up for all the connoisseurs of history. Government should take initiatives for the arrangement of wash rooms.

Dakhil Darwaza :nnDahkil Darwaza literally an entrance gaten(Ar dahkil,Per darwaza), is the largestnstructure of its kind in architecural historynof Sultannate Bengal . ltwas the main entrance to the citadel of LAKHNAUTI, the Muslim name of Gour( per Gawr ) The gateway was the most solid and most elegant entrance portal ever erected in Bengal.nThe suggestion that it was erected Sultan NASIRUDDIN MAHAMUD SHAH (1435-1459 AD) at the time of the building of his citadel seems untenable. when thengateway of GUNMANT MOSQUE, the cityncongressional mosque of the time the restored lliyas Shahis, could not be built to ensure that it could be reasonably time - enduring, how could such a strong andnbalanced structure like the Dakhil Darwaza be built at that time Foodgrain we do not have a similar exmple even in PANDUA where the largest congressionalnmosque in Bengal was erected by the second lliyas shahi rule, who is widelynacknowledged to be the first great buildernamongst the independent rulers of Bengal. the architecture of the gatewaynis an impressive one, and such an impressing structure could be built onlynwhen architecture has attained its full fruition. On this ground, it may be suggested that the Dakhil Darwaza was built in the Husain Shahi period. Antorio be Britto,the Poruguese interpretern(1521 AD) speaks of a moaque round the corner in front Dakhil Darwaza.

Mainly hindu architecture converted to masjid in number of monuments around Gour malda.

Its a very beautiful historical place and nostalgic too.
