Hotel Orchid Annex

The hotel was relatively quiet and removed from the crowd and noise of the Polo market area. The room I booked was an executive twin and it was comfortably spacious. There was a large recessed window looking out over the Polo grounds. The carpet was a little rough-worn in some places but nothing in the way of being unsightly. There were extra blankets in the wardrobe which were of great service because it did get quiet chilly at night.nnThe bathroom, however, wasn't as great as the room. It wasn't quite as clean. There was a bit of a stain in the toilet bowl, the flush was hard to use, it was very dimly lit, and the window was broken and had been taped over.nnRoom service was good and quite prompt. The restaurant menu had Indian, Chinese, Continental and traditional Khasi options.nnI had overall a pleasant stay. The staff, if not friendly, were polite and helpful. I found the secluded ambience of the property particularly calming. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for an affordable and quiet hotel not too far away from the city centre.

Very helping, professional and nice staff, location is awesome, near to main bazaar and yet peaceful. Tasty breakfast complementary and food. Overall best experience in Shillong.
