It is a part of the Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve.n29n• It is close to Amarkantak (northeast of Maikal Hills in Satpura Range of Madhya Pradesh).n• Amarkantak (in MP) is the source of the Son River & Narmada River.n• The Amarkantak in MP & Maikal Hills in Chhattisgarh are the meeting points of Vindhyas & Satpuras.n• Vegetation: deciduous sal and bamboo forests.n• Major Fauna: Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, gaur, chital, sloth bear, sambar, nilgai, four-horned antelope, chinkara,nblackbuck, Indian muntjac, etc.

The Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve is the most dramatic and ecologically diverse landscape in the Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh states of India. It is one of the less developed and least disturbed areas in both the states. It encompasses most of the original natural and cultural features.

Achankamar biosphere reserve- beautiful place.. Road crossing through center of biosphere with lots of lovely greenery place. Road is not so good but its ok. You can watch lots of animal here. If you go early morning.

Beautiful place, very easy to reach from Bilaspur(core area is less than 60km). Awesome site seen, waterfall, lush green forest & hills. Deers can be seen very easily even at the outside of core zone.
