Beautiful church that's designed in a Roman style. It's worth going in to see the interior, but the exterior is truly stunning. It is a place of worship that is frequented by many patrons so dress and act appropriately while you're inside. Great for a quick visit when you're stopping by, 10-15 minutes is sufficient.

The Madeleine Church or Saint Magdalene Church, which is located in the eponymous square in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, has a very unusual history. It took 85 years to build, and all because of the unstable political situation in the country.nnThe first stone of the church was laid by Louis XIV and entrusted its construction to the architect Contan d'Ivry. The temple was built in honor of the king of France.nnSoon, in 1790, the construction of the church was suspended. Only in 1806 Napoleon Bonaparte commissioned the French architect Pierre-Alexandre Vignon to resume construction. This time, the temple was to celebrate the French army.nnAfter the abdication of Napoleon Bonaparte, Louis XVIII in 1814 ordered the built temple to be dedicated to the memory of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.nnIt would seem that the temple should begin to function as intended, but in 1837 the city administration decided to turn the building into a station for the first passenger railway. But these plans were not destined to come true. The church was nevertheless completed and consecrated in 1842.nnToday it is the third most popular church in Paris, after Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sacre Coeur Basilica.

Very beautiful place. Near the metro and near the center.

This monument is amazing and it still organizes religious service and sacred music concerts. My third most liked in Paris, after Notre Dame and the Opéra Garnier.

The Eglise is a magnificent structure, so grand and beautiful. With it's 52 Corinthian columns standing at 65ft, this is hardly a building to go unnoticed. It was built in 1842, so is 177 years old to date.nInside the architecture and splendour is enough to stop a person in their tracks. This Roman Catholic church is a definite must see, tucked away behind the rich Parisian boutiques off Rue Royal, it can be easily accessed by walking a few minutes from Place de la Concorde or exiting the metro at Madeleine.
