The Kala Chaupal Trust (04/07/2021)
MALAGARH. Bulandshahr. 1857 Mutiny. The leader of the rebellion Bahadur Shah Zafar appointed the Nawab Walidad Khan (his brother in law) of Mala-garh and Umrao Singh as the leader of Upper Doab (modern day western U.P).He successfully led a band of armed soldiers against the British troops at the caost of Hindaun river on 30th and 31st may and was able to bring back the Gurjar rule that previously existed. Post capture, the Nawab was hung to death at Bulandshahr’s famous ‘Katle Aam’ for 3-4 days and his lands were seized. The Malagarh fort was destroyed using cannons and little remains in terms of legacy in this principality.
