Gwalior Monument

It was renovated by the current CM of West Bengal in 2012 on 24th May. You can see the mid height tower (60 ft) while u care walking on the path parallel to strand road on the ride and river ganga (hoogly) to left from Princep ghat. Based on record this Monument, aka Ellenborough’s Folly, was erected in 1847 by Lord Ellenborough, the Governor-General of India, as a memorial to the officers and men who fell during the Gwalior War in 1847. Gwalior castle is a hill fort near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. The citadel has existed at least because the 10th century, and the inscriptions and monuments found inside what is now the citadel campus suggest that it could have existed as early as the beginning of the sixth century. The castle has been managed by using a number of distinctive rulers in its history.

Beautiful monument built in memory of fallen Indian soldiers in the war fought with the British in 1842 at Gwalior. Well lit at night, earlier tourists could climb up the monument. Beautiful.
