If you are in Alleppey and want to experience backwater journey for few hours then it is recommended to take Shikara boats which is cheaper than house boats. If you would like to stay in backwater for a night or so, then definitely can go for house boats.nnComing to Shikara boat experience, it was surreal. Based on the hours we say, the sailor will take a route in the backwater. I would suggest to take a boat around 3 to 4 pm so that we can experience the sunset through beautiful backwaters! A typical Shikara boat will have 6 chairs and a small bed. Do have a stop in between to have snacks and chai.nnAlleppey backwaters has beautiful scenery which will definitely give a memorable experience!

If you want to spend quality time in backwaters, shikhara boat ride of 2 hours give you a chance to explore the backwaters at the time of sunset and enjoy peaceful, happy, you time there. The best place to enjoy sunset backwaters. 2 hours ride with one stop at the restaurant to enjoy tea and evening snacks. Must explore shikhara ride in kerala backwaters

There are so many Shikaras and motorboats ideal for family, friends and groups. You can cruise through the Vembanad lake and canals. Ask for country canoe ride, If you want to explore narrow intrinsic canals and remote countryside. Price will be extra. However, for that you have to travel in Shikara to the Canoe ride starting point which takes almost an hour one-way. The same shikara will wait during you canoe ride and take you back. Try to bargain a bit if the price sounds high for you.

Service was good.. we spend 3 hrs cruise.. the boat driver Narayanan was really helpful.. happy in explaining things..
