Outside the hustle of Kalimpong, Palighar is an abode of tranquility. If one is looking for an earthy place without compromising on the comfort, this is the go to place. Amazing hosts and tasty food adds to it!

Fell in love with PaliGhar - it was everything we were looking for and more :)nnCozy, clean and comfortable cottage for two, in the middle of a lush green and colorful farm. Caught the most beautiful sunset on our last day!nnIt was quiet, calm and away from the Kalimpong market, which we enjoyed.nnHosts, Kabir & Ahana, were extremely helpful and hospitable. We went on a lovely walk to the river, down an hour or so from the stay.nnFood prepared by the caretaker, Sanjay, was spot on. Homely, hygienic, made from fresh produce - what's not to love. We were looking forward to breakfast each passing day.nnLeft with very happy memories, and all the places we stayed at up ahead on our trip, we kept comparing it to PaliGhar, and nothing came close. ud83dudc9bud83dudc9a

Spent a few days at this cosy property in the outskirts of Kalimpong and it was as good as one could possibly imagine. Surrounded by their farmlands, this beautiful homestay is a breath of fresh air (literally!), tended to most lovingly by the amazing Kabir and his wife Ahana. Kabir is a wonderful story teller too, with the history of the region right at the back of his hand. And he shares them all with enthusiasm and generosity. The interesting history of Kalimpong is woven wonderfully through his words, local sightseeing and the delectable gastronomic fare at Pali Ghar. The food is incredible! Sourced from their own farms and gardens, the food is traditional Nepali at its very best. A wonderful departure from the momos, that have been unfairly singled out as the only representation of the Nepali palate. The depth and variety of the food at display is definitely one of the highlights of this wonderful Himalayan stay. Do stop by for a weekend or a few days to rejuvenate yourself from everyday chaos and enjoy the silence as well as the music of being so close to everything that city lives rob us of.

Wonderful place to unwind. Kabir and Aahana made us feel completely at home. We went on a lovely village trek, quite easy for amateurs, we even spotted peacocks in our midst! This walk was followed by a delectable lunch in a sweet cabana overlooking the fields. I highly recommend Palighar not only for a day trip but also for an overnight stay if you can. Hope to be back again.
