Land Fort is having good fortification. Somashekara Nayaka from the Keladi Nayaka dynasty of Ikkeri built this fort. The place is made well known by the Nithyanandasram with 45 caves. The fort is now in ruins. To the south-west of the fort is a temple that was also built by the Nayaks. The temple, dedicated to Shiva, is named the Poonkavanam Karpooreswara Temple.

Hosdurg Fort is a majestic fort which can be seen from distance and was established by Ikkeri Dynasty king Somashekhara Nayaka. There is a unique feature to this fort in form of its round bastion.very nice place atmosphere is nice,it is a small fort.

A historical fort well destroyed by government of kerala. Every government agencies of india should learn from other countries, how to protect &market historical monuments. Here a vast fort is almost destroyed, encroched&made into a dust bin especially liquor bottles you can see all around. Pity new age kings.
