Temple and Monastery 45 is located at Sanchi Stupa Complex Sanchi Madhya Pradesh. From the second century to Fourth century AD ,Sanchi alongwith Vidisha came under the Kushan and Kshatrapa rulers and subsequently passed on to the hands of the Gupta's when some temples were built and decorated with sculptures. Some shrines and monestries were also constructed during the 7th to 12th century AD. Must visit this UNESCO world Heritage Site.

The town of Sanchi is synonymous with Buddhist Stupas - hemispherical structures typically containing relics of the Buddha or his followers. The Stupas of Sanchi were constructed on the orders of Emperor Ashoka to preserve and spread the Buddhist philosophy. Sanchi has been protecting these beautiful and sacred architectural wonders, just the way these wonders have been safeguarding ancient history and art of the Mauryan period.nnThe numerous stupas, temples, monasteries and an Ashokan pillar have been the focus of interest and awe for global audiences as well

Sanchi stupa is spread over a large area. It has remains of old temples and meditation place. It's on the hill, view of nearby places from here is awesome. Neat and clean place. Well maintained.nYou have to walk a lot to see everything, so wear comfortable shoes.

TEMPLE AND MONASTERY 45nnTEMPLE AND MONASTERY 45 of medieval period, stand on the ruins of an earlier structure of the seventh or eighth century. Presence of ganga and yamuna on the door- jambs of the temple shows that the buddhists adopted typically Brahanical motifs as well.nThe spire, reduce to a bare core, was originaly.nEmbellished with carving on three sides of the temple or remains of monastic cells.
