Vaigai Dam Resevoir

Main reservoir for 5 districts of southern Tamil Nadu. Located in the serenity of western ghats.

Good atmosphere. Parking is also available over there.

Beautiful awesome place

An iconic dam. The famous Vaigai Dam park is now only a shadow of what it once was (it seems). The statues are damaged, the fountains vandalized, etc. PWD could at least keep dustbins around the park to prevent the unapologetic littering that people indulge in.nnBut the Dam is still worth an evening due to the sheer brilliance of the Dam structure itself. The highlight of the Dam is the Dam Walk Way (3.5km long one way). At day break one can try and catch the sun rising atop Theni.nnLimited parking available - so people end up parking on the highway, which is quite dangerous for themselves and the traffic. Try and park your vehicle near the IB (guesthouse) instead, and walk down to the park and walk way.nnThe Dam walk way is crowded near the park entrance. So if visiting with kids and/ or pets, go to the entrance that's closer to Andipatti Town.
