Trust me,if you are looking for devotion in there, you won't find it!!!😠 The place is simply for good business for the pandas and the shopkeepers. You won't get to even see Maa if you don't know where to look for her idol. The pandas charges are high and the shopkeepers would make a fool of you if you are not cautious!!!

A densely populated neighborhood with a traditional vibe, Kalighat is known for Kalighat Kali, a revered Hindu temple complex from the early 1800s. It contains several shrines and altars where devotees ask for blessings. The surrounding area has tea stalls and unpretentious markets selling everyday goods, as well as time-tested cultural venues like the intimate Tapan Theatre and the single-screen Basusree Cinema. ― Google

Kalighat was a Ghat (landing stage) sacred to Kali on the old course (Adi Ganga) of the Hooghly river (Bhāgirathi) in the city of Kolkata. The name Calcutta is said to have been derived from the word Kalighat. The river over a period of time has moved away from the temple. The temple is now on the banks of a small canal called Adi Ganga which connects to the Hooghly. The Adi Ganga was the original course of the river Hooghly. Hence the name Adi (original) Ganga. Legend
