Tharon cave

Tharon Cave was used as a shelter for thousands of years. Excavations inside the cave produced items related to the Hobinian culture of North Vietnam. The cave is of great archaeological and historical significance and was developed for tourism. The road to Tharon was improved and a three kilometer long road to the cave entrance built. A plate at the cave entrance shows a map of the 655m long cave system. And the most important fact for Indian cave visitors: five exits allow a good flow of air through the cave. Idians are always in the fear to suffocate in a cave, so many show caves have been equipped with obsolete ventilation systems. Actually they are not only unnecessary, the are useless, expensive, energy consuming and a threat to the cave.nnThere are sources on the web calling Tharon Cave the most awesome Natural Cafe in the world. We intend to order a cappuchino when visiting the cafe...nnHowever, Tharoon Cave is despite its importance not a show cave in the way the term is understood in western countries. It is a wild cave with minor development and local guides, appropriate clothes, helmet and headlamp are recommended. Visitors are required, due to the travelling restrictions of the State, to join a group to see the cave. Such groups are organized only for special events. The famous Tharon cave is located at about 27kms from the Tamenglong district HQ.The map of the entire cave is engraved and painted on a stone at the main entrance.
