This snake park was set up by the legendary wildlife enthusiast and conservationist Romulus Whitaker from Chennai. This place is must place to visit to be almost all kinds of snakes of India. It also has crocodiles and Pythons and Birds and other animals. It actually is a mini zoo which is based in Parassini Kadavu in Kannur.

It's a mini mini zoo focussed on snakes. Few birds and crocs can also be found. The maintainence and taking care of animals would have been a bit more better . Good for 45 minute go around with family and children. There are snake shows during specific times which may be interesting . This place also has very bad dubious past , during 10-Feb-1993 entire place along with animals, birds and snakes were burnt alive inside their cages by communist party workers due to group rivalry of managing this place . This was an horrible crime against nature and was big news in media. I hope such stupidly won't repeat again and animals are taken care well . Else release them to forest ..

Regarded as one of the finest snake sanctuaries of Asia, the Parassinikadavu Snake Park is the pride of the south. It is one of the most prominent reptile preservation centres in the country and is the only one in Kerala. The Parassinikadavu Snake Park is home to over 150 different species of reptiles like crocodiles, monitor lizards and snakes- both venomous and non-venomous. Not only reptiles and amphibians, but this snake park also goes a long way to preserve and protect many wild mammals, marine creatures as well as rare avifauna- both endemic and migratory.nnThe establishment of Parassinikadavu Snake Park was an initiative of the Visha Chikista Kendra, a medical institution that offers diagnosis and treatment of snakebites. The main motto behind establishing this park was to clarify undue superstitions about snakes, educate the common man about these species and create the right awareness among them. Each enclosure of the different species of animals has a brief description of their habitat, moods, peculiarities and interesting titbits that educate the visitors about these exotic and truly extraordinary species. Visiting this park is an absolute treat for the wildlife enthusiasts and animal lovers. You will be stunned by the unique and admirable traits of many of the park's inhabitants and will undoubtedly be left in awe of nature's wondrous creations.

The Parassinkkadavu Snake Park is located in Anthoor Municipality about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) from Kannur Corporation in the Kannur district of north Kerala, in south India. The Snake Park is in Parassinikkadavu, which is 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from National Highway (NH) 17, en route from Kannur to Taliparamba,The park houses a variety of snakes and other small animals, including the Spectacled Cobra, King Cobra, Russell's viper, Krait and various pit vipers. There is also a large collection of non-venomous snakes including pythons. The park is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of snakes, many species of which are gradually becoming extinct. In a live show, trained personnel play and 'interact' with a variety of snakes, including cobras and vipers, and try to quell mythical fears and superstitions about snakes. It has also been proposed that a laboratory to extract venom from snakes for purposes of research be set up here.
