State Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar has announced the shifting of the Panipat bus stand to Sewah village. He said land had also been identified for the construction of the city bus stand and a roadways’ workshop in Sector 13 here. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, during his visit to Panipat in December 2014, had announced to shift the bus stand from the city to ease traffic congestion. However, the authorities took almost three years to decide the location, where it could be shifted.nnPanwar, while addressing mediapersons here, said the general bus stand would be constructed on eight acres, which had been transferred by the Sewah village panchayat to the Transport Department. He said HUDA had also transferred 5.5 acres to the department for constructing the city bus stand and the workshop.nnThe minister said the construction of the district jail was nearing completion and it was likely to be inaugurated in the next three-four months. He further said at least 2,000 drivers and conductors and 869 technical employees would join the department soon. Nearly 600 new buses would hit the road in the next two months, the minister added.nnHe said an MoU had been signed between the UP and Haryana governments. It had been decided that the Haryana Roadways would ply its buses in UP and vice-versa to recover the losses.nnBesides, Rs 68 crore have been approved for installing 4G jammers in jails. In the first phase, the district jails of Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Ambala and Sonepat would be covered, the minister added.
